Feeling nostalgic! While looking for a painting o Feeling nostalgic!
While looking for a painting on the David Collection's website, I came across this inlaid and enamelled gold armlet (bazuband), depicting Prince Tahmasp Mirza, grandson of the ruling Fath Ali Shah and produced circa 1820.

This is the very first piece of Islamic art I researched for an auction catalogue! It was sold by Marie-Christine David at Drouot, Paris in 2010.

The enamelled portrait and flowers at the back were painted by li Ghulam Khanezad who signed his work on the left.

One of them include this gorgeous anthology or Persian poetry, compiled in Safavid Persia in 1105H/ 1693. The marginal decoration is just incredible, mixing techniques and iconography.

Before taking a social media break to enjoy the weather and work on my projects, I wanted to briefly debrief the last few months of the Parisian art market, packed with auctions and action!

May and June have seen many successes and surprises, including for this gorgeous Ottoman ewer and basin in tombak, dedicated to the princess Mihrimah Sultan (1812-1838), daughter of Sultan Mahmud II (r. 1808-1839), dated 1236 H./1820. It's been sold by @alexisrenard_art and @beaussantlefevreassocies for €130 560 against an estimate of €20,000/30,000, pre-empted by the Louvre.
